Certified Factory Technician

General Summary:

Diagnoses and provides automotive services by working without technical assistance to perform inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installations efficiently, safely and according to industry quality and time standards. Complies with the dealership's safety and environmental programs and practices. Automotive services may include, but are not limited to drivability, suspensions, alignments, steering, heating and air conditioning, basic and ABS brakes, electrical repair, and other services performed by service technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Suggests additional work that is needed to the service advisor or shop dispatcher so the customer may be notified.
  • Completes service and repair assignments correctly to pass quality inspections or test drives.
  • Collects all necessary in formation before requesting parts.
  • Maintains sufficient personally-owned tools; keeps tools in good working order.
  • Promotes dealership by representing professional image, positive attitude, and clean work area.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity and quality goals.  
  • Promotes a productive working relationship with others.
  • Actively listens to concerns; takes action to respond to others' needs.
  • Speaks clearly, concisely, and effectively; clearly explains tasks and procedures.
  • Has an approachable style; fosters open communication through active listening.
  • Listens to and supports new ideas and approaches; adapts to change quickly.
  • Maintains composure when faced with multiple demands.
  • Complies with al OSHA/MIOSHA, state and local laws regarding safety, hazardous materials, and environmental materials.

Physical Requirements:

  • Moving about the dealership to complete auto service and repair.
  • Using hand and/or power tools and equipment consistent with industry standards.   
  • Using computer to look up information.
  • Standing for 6 to 8 hours during a shift.
  • Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, and climbing.
  • Utilizing physical and manual dexterity.
  • Lifting up to 70lbs.

Job Requirements:

  • Able to pass a physical.
  • Valid drivers license acceptable to the dealerships insurance provider.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in automotive repair or service; 5 years or more preferred.
  • Tools required to perform repairs and services.

Hourly Technician

General Summary

Entry level service technician. Specializes in maintenance and light repair work. Focuses on quick, high volume jobs (brakes, tires, filters, batteries, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs any and all repairs and service as indicated on vehicle inspection report or repair estimate order.
  • Ensures high quality service and repairs are provided to every customer.
  • Maintains all personal and company-provided tools and equipment.
  • Road tests vehicles to ensure repairs are completed properly.
  • Completes service and repair assignments correctly, to pass quality inspections or test drives.
  • Collects all necessary information before requesting parts.
  • Suggests additional work that is needed to the service advisor or shop dispatcher so the customer may be notified.
  • Notifies dispatcher or advisor if delays are expected.
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle.
  • Inspect vehicle parts for damage or safety issues.
  • Complies with all OSHA/MIOSHA, state and local laws regarding safety, hazardous materials, and environmental materials.
  • Able to take direction and work without constant supervision.
  • Maintains technical skills.

Quick Lube Technician

General Summary

Specializes in maintenance and light repair work.  Focuses on quick, high volume jobs (brake/tire inspections, filters, batteries, etc.).  Has strong customer service orientation and the ability to work independently and efficiently. This position can lead to the main shop if the ability and desire are there for a career as a Certified Factory Technician.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs any and all repairs and service as indicated on Vehicle Inspection Report or Repair Estimate Order.
  • Ensures high quality service and repairs are provided to every customer.
  • Maintains all personal and company-provided tools and equipment in proper operation condition.
  • Communicates well with customers and dealer personnel.
  • Promotes cooperation and teamwork.
  • Assists fellow employees as necessary.
  • Handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently 
  • Utilizes proprietary processes and policies to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient and effective service operations.
  • Visually inspects vehicle parts for damage or safety issues.
  • Complies with all OSHA/MIOSHA, state and local laws regarding safety, hazardous materials, and environmental materials.
  • Reports security violations or unsafe conditions to management.
  • Maintains technical skills.

Needed Skills:

  • Work effectively with others.
  • Handle pressure and able to adapt to change while maintaining composure and resolving conflicts.

Physical Requirements:

  • Moving about the quick lane area and general shop.
  • Utilizing physical and manual dexterity.
  • Using equipment consistent with industry standards.
  • Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, and climbing. 
  • Standing for eight to ten hours in a shift. 
  • Lifting up to 70 lbs. 

Job Requirements:

  • Able to pass a physical.
  • Valid drivers license acceptable to the dealership's insurance provider.
  • Two years in automotive service experience preferred.

Automotive Detail/General Dealership Assistance

General Summary:

Clean and refurbish new and used automobiles and maintain inventory lot appearance. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Properly recondition and clean vehicles interior and exterior.  
  • Maintain cleanliness of dealership and customer vehicles. 
  • Assist with Sales Manager in maintaining new/used car lot display. 
  • Maintain fuel levels of all dealership vehicles.
  • Pickup and deliver vehicles as requested by management. 
  • Check all incoming new inventory for proper equipment and appearance. 
  • Occasional general maintenance tasks.
  • Handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently.
  • Listens to and supports new ideas and approaches; adapts to change quickly.
