How To Change A Flat Tire

So You Have a Flat Tire!

The chances are very high that sometime in your long life, you'll find yourself in a situation where you'll need to know how to change a tire. Whether you're just practicing in your garage or you're stranded in a thunderstorm on the side of the road, knowing how to change a tire should simply be a universal life skill. So, in case you do not know HOW to change a tire, we at Brown Motors would love to go over the process.

Be prepared to change your tire if you have to!

Make sure you have the right tools in your vehicle to change your tires. You'll need a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts used to fasten the tire to the vehicle. You'll also need a good car jack and, of course, a spare tire. Make sure to keep these items in your vehicle at all times! You never know when you might get a flat tire.

Step by step guide to change a tire:

  • Make sure the vehicle is safely off the road and on a relatively flat surface
  • Use a lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts just a bit
  • Use the jack to lift the tire off the ground. Most cars have a designated place for the jack to go, so look for that spot. If you put the jack in the wrong spot, it coud mess up the body structure of you vehicle.
  • Once the tire is off the ground, remove the lug nuts
  • Take the deflated tire off and put the new tire on
  • Replace the lug nuts & tighten them
  • Lower the jack

Congratulations!  You changed your tire!
